Relieve Pain & Save Your Tooth

A root canal (endodontic treatment) is performed when the soft tissue inside the tooth — the pulp — becomes infected or inflamed due to deep decay, cracks, or trauma. Without treatment, the infection can spread and the tooth may need extraction.

Root canal treatment removes the infected pulp, cleans and disinfects the root canals, and seals the tooth — eliminating pain and preserving your natural tooth for years to come.

Nothing to Fear — Here's Why

The reputation of root canals being painful is outdated. With modern local anaesthesia, you should feel no pain during the procedure. Most patients say the procedure feels no different from getting a routine filling.

At Wonder Smiles, we use advanced rotary endodontic instruments that make the procedure faster, cleaner, and more comfortable — often completing treatment in a single appointment.

Root Canal — Step by Step

💉
Step 01
Anaesthesia
Local anaesthesia is administered to completely numb the area. You will feel no pain throughout the procedure.
🦠
Step 02
Pulp Removal
The infected pulp is carefully removed using precision rotary endodontic instruments, and the canals are shaped.
🧼
Step 03
Cleaning & Sealing
The root canals are thoroughly disinfected, then sealed with a biocompatible material (gutta-percha) to prevent re-infection.

Step 04
Crown Restoration
A tooth-coloured crown is placed over the treated tooth to restore its full strength, function, and appearance.

Root Canal Questions

How do I know if I need a root canal?
Signs include persistent toothache, sensitivity to hot/cold that lingers, darkening of the tooth, swelling or a pimple on the gums. However, sometimes there are no symptoms — only an X-ray reveals the need for treatment.
Is it better to extract or do a root canal?
Preserving your natural tooth is almost always the better option. Natural teeth function and look better than any replacement. Root canal followed by a crown restores the tooth fully and is more cost-effective long term.
How long does a root canal take?
Most root canals at Wonder Smiles are completed in 1–2 appointments of 60–90 minutes each. Complex cases may require additional visits, which we communicate clearly upfront.
What should I avoid after the procedure?
Avoid chewing on the treated side until the crown is placed. Some mild soreness is normal for 1–3 days and is managed with prescribed pain relief. Normal activities can be resumed immediately.
